Setup Checklist

Once your District /School contract is signed, you can use this checklist to ensure all steps are covered to get started in Roadmaps.

✅ Choose Your Rostering Method

See Rostering Options page for details on how to choose your rostering method.

✅ Get Rostered

Recommended timeline: start this process at least 3 business days prior to students logging on, but the earlier the better!

If you're using Clever,

Instruct a Clever administrator for your district to complete the steps in the following article: Getting Set Up with Clever

If you're using Roadmaps Self-Setup, that will mean coordinating these steps:

  1. Determine who your school or district's rostering point of contact(s) should be.

This person will be responsible for creating accounts for your school or district's teachers and administrators. This person will also have access to view and edit all classes at your school or district.

  2. Reach out to Mary at msandvik@newclassrooms.org, copy your rostering points of contact, and ask to begin the Roadmaps Self-Setup process.
  3. The Roadmaps team will set up your rostering point of contact with a Roadmaps account, and then that person will follow the steps in Setting Up Admins & Teachers using Roadmaps Self-Setup
  4. Once teachers are given accounts, they are unblocked to start creating classes: Creating Your Class(es)
  5. Once classes are created, teachers can instruct their students to join their classes: Inviting Students

✅ Get Necessary Websites Unblocked

This only applies to schools and districts whose students (and/or teachers & administrators) are using devices or browsers with restrictions, also known as locked down environments. There are certain domains that, if blocked, will block your users from being able to access key features of Roadmaps.

Send our Allowlist Requirements doc and companion article to your school's or district's IT person, or whoever manages users' browsers and devices, and instruct them to ensure that the domains contained within are unblocked.

✅ Adjust Portal Settings

Log into Roadmaps and navigate to the Settings tab. From there, you can choose to allow your schools' students to contact our Help Center (the default option is to restrict students from communicating with our Customer Support team directly), to allow your schools' students to check a box to mark that they demonstrated a skill (the default option is to require students to prove that they demonstrated a skill by taking an assessment), and to allow students to access the accessibility toolbar.

Schedule One Hour Follow-Up Teacher Training with Mary
