Can Roadmaps be translated into other languages?

Roadmaps is a platform that was built and written in the English language, and at this time, we do not offer an official, internally translated version of our assessments or lessons. However, there are many ways to translate material in Roadmaps and on related pages!

Translating content on Roadmaps pages

The Roadmaps platform can usually be translated by using browser extensions (ie Google Translate). If you opt to have students use an extension to translate their assessment questions, please note that answers still need to be entered using US English conventions - specifically using dots for decimals and commas for thousands separators (so 1,234.5 not 1.234,5).

Students also have access to the Accessibility Tools toolbar, which contains a highlighting translation tool, a dictionary, and a picture dictionary.

Translating content on related sites

IXL

For IXL, check out this article that describes how to turn on Spanish language translation for key skills P-K through Geometry (not every skill). Since Roadmaps only rosters students for IXL, not teachers, our Customer Support team can help you set this feature up for your students if you provide us their ID numbers. Just click Help Center, then Ask a question! IXL's support knowledge base does not make any mention of alternate language support beyond Spanish, unfortunately.

Khan Academy

For Khan Academy, many videos have alternate language subtitles available (more info on that here under the Subtitle Settings header). Khan Academy also offers a large number of full alternate language Khan Academy sites, and you can take advantage of this by replacing the "www." at the beginning of "www.khanacademy.org" with the appropriate alternate language code - for example, have your students enter "es." before "khanacademy.org" to access the Spanish version of a lesson, or "da." to access the Danish version of a lesson.

There is also a way to change the language of a student's entire session provided the student is logged in. If your school provides Khan Academy accounts to students, here is an article describing how to change those settings: How do I set a language other than English as default?. If your students do not have Khan Academy accounts, you could use a combination of subtitles, the Google Translate extension for text, or one of the methods above.
